Just like in car world Italian bikes are famed for their speed, their style and a sense of passion that sets them apart from the crowd. Ducati is probably one of the best-known, race-inspired sports bikes still its bread and butter but the range now expanded and catering to a much wider audience than ever. And a lot of that is down to the Monster.
When it launched all the way back in 1992 it immediately turned heads for its lean, mean and stripped-back appearance, thunderous engine note and relative affordability. This was a proper Ducati with all the drama and excitement of the sports bikes, just much more attainable than ever. Big shoes for this new one to fill, as Rory has been finding out. But after a trip to the gym this all-new Monster has come back looking leaner and meaner than ever, with a brand-new engine, clever lightweight frame and huge range of rider electronics designed to help you get the most out of without scaring yourself silly. Sure, it’s handsome enough you could just park it in your living room and stare at it. But bikes are for the riding, even if the promise of some Spanish sunshine didn’t quite play out. Nothing can dampen our Rory’s spirits, though, so join him for a ride on the all-new Monster to see if it successfully reimagines one of Ducati’s most loved bikes. And if you enjoyed this make sure you subscribe to our YouTube channel to enjoy Rory’s impressions of all the newest and latest, whether that be on four wheels or two!
