Try, Buy, Dream – April 2026
This month’s selection of vehicles to try out, buy or simply dream about

It has never been easier to try a car, van or bike – some brands offer subscription services on a monthly basis, with no down payment or exit fee so you can swap in and out of different models with minimal notice. Or you can lock in for longer, on a leasing deal, which still means you just pay a monthly amount and hand the vehicle back at the end of the deal. Additionally, some brands provide 24-hour test drives for a chance to get to know the vehicle before you commit.
Then there’s the Buy choice, whether it’s paying in one hit or signing up to a fixed term finance deal with the option to buy at the end. These are vehicles that make good long-term sense. And finally our fave section, for dreamers everywhere. The new luxe stuff, the wishlist option or the treat yourself splurge, depending on how big that imagined windfall might be. Enjoy this month’s offerings!

Try

Volkswagen Golf
The VW Golf is possibly one of the most well-known car models on sale. Whether you are after an everyday runabout, a family car or a sporty hot hatch, Volkswagen has a Golf for you. This is great, but it can make it tricky to find your perfect version. To help reduce the fear of commitment, you could try leasing. This way you’ll be giving the car back after a fixed period rather than signing up for the long-haul. There are plenty of options available, but we are particularly drawn to this sporty GTI model for £318 per month.

Buy

Honda Civic
Honda is renowned for its build quality and strong reliability record, which is one of the reasons we’ve chosen the Civic as our car to buy this month. As one of our favourite hatchbacks, the Civic is frugal, roomy and practical, plus it comes with a decent amount of kit as standard. If you are looking for a family car which isn’t an SUV, we think the Civic should be on your list of considerations. Plus, if you test drive any Honda in April, you can get a £750 discount on top of any other offers, provided your car is registered by 31 July 2026. Nice!

Dream

Jaguar’s new electric GT
There are still plenty of questions about Jaguar’s hotly anticipated all-electric flagship. We have yet to find out what it will be called, and while we were given a sneak preview of what it looks like without the camo ... we're not allowed to talk about it yet! We have driven it, though, even if this was still officially a prototype with some fine-tuning yet to be done. So, does it have the hallmarks of the iconic British brand we once knew, or is this 1,000 horsepower four-door electric grand tourer really something new entirely? The early indication suggests it really could be a blend of both. Yet, we’ll have to wait a little while longer for the full reveal and dream of what this thing is going to look like in all its undisguised glory out on the public road.
