Vehicle Video

These terms are provided subject to the Main Advertising Terms & Conditions, which are incorporated into these Rules by reference.

Terms defined in the Main Advertising Terms & Conditions shall have the same meaning in these Rules provided that, should a term be defined in both the Main Advertising Terms & Conditions and these Rules, the meaning of the term defined in these Rules shall have precedence in relation to the Rules.

  1. INTRODUCTION

    1. These Rules apply to any use of the dealer video function (“Dealer Video”) on the Auto Trader website located at www.autotrader.co.uk (“Website”). The submission of any video means that you accept and agree to abide by all the terms & conditions of these Rules.

  2. DEFINITION

    1. “API” refers to Application Programming Interface which enables two software programmes to communicate with each other (in this instance, Auto Trader calls the APIs of our video partners in order to retrieve the relevant video content on behalf of our mutual customers);
    2. “Content” refers to the visual and audio content of the video;
    3. “Content Standards” refers to the standards we expect Dealers to comply with for all video content; and
    4. “Dealer Video” the service that we supply to allow Dealers to add video content to their advert.

  3. MODERATION

    1. Although videos may be monitored, we are under no obligation to you or to any other person to oversee, monitor or moderate the Website or any other service we provide on the Website and we may stop moderating the Website at any time.
    2. You are solely responsible for your video and its content. We do not endorse any content or opinion, recommendations or advice contained within the video. We expressly disclaim any and all liability in connection with the content.
    3. By uploading a video you confirm that you have, and will continue to have during the use of the Dealer Video service, all the necessary rights, licenses, consents, permissions required to use the service and display the content.
    4. We reserve the right to remove, or disable access to, any video and advert which we deem to be potentially defamatory of any person, misleading, unlawful, inappropriate, in violation of any third party rights or otherwise in breach of these Rules. If we do remove a video and advert for these reasons we will not provide a credit. Please refer to our Advertising Guideline for further information about Misleading content.

  4. CONTENT STANDARDS

      These content standards apply to all videos and must be complied with. We will determine, at our discretion, whether a video breaches these standards. Any content which does not constitute a video shall not be delivered to Auto Trader and, if it is delivered, will be removed from Auto Trader’s platforms. For the avoidance of doubt, any Content which features functionality such as interactive spins and the ability to switch between different views of a vehicle shall not be deemed to be a video and shall not be permitted on Auto Trader’s platforms unless express written agreement has been reached between Auto Trader and the relevant Advertiser and/or Advertiser’s video provider.

      1. A video must:
      1. be accurate in its description of the vehicle being displayed and any services provided
      2. comply with all relevant legislation and regulation;
      3. comply with our Advertising Guideline ( https://www.autotrader.co.uk/partners/retailer/terms-and-conditions/advertising-guidelines) updated from time to time;
      4. consist of a continuous recording of visual images of a vehicle with the option to include sound and basic video navigation tools such as play, pause and stop.
      2. A video must not:
      1. contain any features which are not deemed to be standard video player tools such as interactive spins, ability to switch between different views of a vehicle and embedded images/galleries;
      2. contain any third party copyright material, or material that is subject to other third party proprietary rights (including rights of privacy or rights of publicity)
      3. be defamatory or derogatory of any person or organisation;
      4. contain any strong profanity or inappropriate content or be obscene, offensive, threatening, inflammatory, abusive, hateful, racist, anti-religious or sexually graphic;
      5. be in any way discriminatory or promote discrimination of any kind;
      6. be pornographic or violent;
      7. disclose any personal information in respect of any individual. Personal information is information that can be used to identify a person or contact a person by any means;
      8. impersonate any person or misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person or company;
      9. be unlawful or advocate, promote, incite any third party to commit or assist any unlawful or criminal act or contain any description or mention of illegal activity;
      10. contain a statement which is direct or indirect encouragement or other inducement to the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism;
      11. contain any advertising, promote any goods or services, drive traffic to another website or notify users of a promotion not approved by us or attempt to make a commercial gain;
      12. contain any spam;
      13. contain text or audio not relevant to the vehicle being described;
      14. be in any language other than English;
      15. be irrelevant or off-topic;
      16. contain a url or link to any other site except the Dealers own website.

  5. OPERATION

    1. There are three methods in to add a video to your full page advert. These methods are supplied through the use of third party providers. These include:

      Youtube : You are able to add a video to your full page advert by way of adding the URL from Youtube in the Stock and Adverts View in Dealer Portal.

      CitNOW API : In the event that you are a customer of CitNOW, we have agreements in place with the provider to source the video directly via the CitNOW API. You are required to notify us of your subscription, so that we may source the video.

      AutosonShow.tv : In the event that you are a customer of AutosonShow.tv, we have agreements in place with the provider to source the video directly via the AutosonShow.tv API. You are required to notify us of your subscription, so that we may source the video.
